Proto-Semitic *‛ATUD --- HETOIM-OS Greek
This entry may be related to the numbers E 0307 (Hebrew 0194) and according to some scholars to number E 0994 (Hebrew 0202). This is based on the idea of the readiness for action that characterizes a ram. There is uncertainty about the etymology of Greek "hetoimos". Possibly the element "het" has to do with "time". Then "hetoimos" would mean "that what is (ready) on time when needed". This entry is anyhow related to number GR 1178 (Hebrew 0203).
The Hebrew word is a participle of the obsolete verb "*'atad", of which the intensive form is "‛itted" . And also this Hebrew verb may have a basis in the concept of time, called "et".
Note:
- Hebrew has a third consonant D, not found in Greek, but a comparison with entry E 0307 (Hebrew 0194) demonstrates that this difference with Greek is not significant, as also the root without that D has roughly the same message.

- Proto-Semitic. This Hebrew root is used also in Aramaic "ע ת י ד, ‛atid = ready", Syriac "ע
ת
ד , ‛atted = he made ready, prepared" and Arabic "‛atuda = was ready, was prepared". It may well have been present in Proto-Semitic "* ע ת ד" .
Note:
- Greek "hetoimos = ready" is considered as probably related to "ετεος, eteos and ετυμος, etümos, that both carry the meaning of "true, genuine", but the semantic difference is great.
